What is Payment by Results (PbR)?
Payment by results is a Department of Health initiative to change the way that health services are commissioned (paid for), moving away from block contracts to a system where funding is linked directly to the care service users receive.
PbR has been in place in acute trusts since 2004 and is now being introduced into mental health in the following stages; Working Age Adult and Older Peoples Services from April 2013, Secure Services, CAMHS and Substance Misuse in subsequent years
