Robert Ashton
Elected 2008 - Re-elected 2011 (for one year)
Robert works extensively in the mental health field as a paid facilitator and as a volunteer, winning funding for local initiatives. He is a trustee of Norfolk Community Foundation and a non-executive director of SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative). He also leads a local anti-stigma group, Stuff Stigma!
Robert is a member, and former chair, of the Marketing sub-group.

Malcolm Bedingfield
Elected 2008 - Re-elected 2009
Malcolm was first elected in 2008, and during his first term has met many members to get to know their views and needs regarding mental health issues. He has considerable experience as a carer, having looked after his wife for over 15 years. Malcolm is a member of many local organisations, including Bungay Town Council and youth groups.
Malcolm is a member of the Nominations Committee, and the Communication between the Boards and Marketing sub-groups.

Tony Betts
Elected 2010
Tony has worked in the HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office, helping other government departments, local government and the NHS. He ran a successful partnership with private sector organisations for 10 years, which operated in over 40 countries, and is also a member of a private sector ethics committee. Tony has personal experience of mental health services through family and friends.
Tony is a member of the Strategic Planning sub-group.

Pauline Elliott
Elected 2008 - Re-elected 2010
Pauline was first elected in 2008, and during her first term provided voluntary support and training for service users, carers and professionals. She has experience of caring for a parent with dementia and working with the Alzheimer's Society.
Pauline is a member of the Board of Governors' Code of Conduct, Education Programme and Marketing sub-groups. Pauline also represents the governors at the Board of Directors' Charitable Funds Committee.

Tony Jackson - Lead Governor
Elected 2008 - Re-elected 2010
Tony was first elected in 2008 and during his first time was actively involved in many issues of mental health and wellbeing in the community, including co-chairing the stakeholder events for the Quality Accounts. Tony was vice chair of norcas and was a member of the Independent Monitoring Board for Norwich Prison.
Tony was elected as the Lead Governor for the trust in November 2009.
Tony is the chair of the Strategic Planning sub-group

Jacqueline Middleton

Jacqueline was first elected in 2008, and during her first term has helped promote communication with the community.
Jacqueline is a member of the Nominations Committee.

Sheila Preston
Elected 2009
Sheila is the current chair of the trust's Carers' Council, as well as attending other meetings both inside and outside the trust to share her experiences of being a carer. She runs her own business as an artist.
Sheila is a member of the Nominations Committee, and the Communication between the Boards and Marketing sub-groups.

Maggie Prettyman
Elected 2008, Re-elected 2011 (for one year)
Maggie has been involved with health and social care for over 20 years, and works in regulation and inspection of care homes to improve person-centred care. She has worked to overcome multi-cultural and ethnic challenges.
Maggie is the chair of the Marketing sub-group and the vice-chair of the Code of Conduct sub-group.

Pat is an experienced Public Health Nurse in West Norfolk, supporting service users and carers. Pat has worked at strategic levels within local and national organisations, including the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Marion is a retired general nurse with experience of caring in a personal and professional role, nursing in both hospitals and prisons. Marion has also worked as a volunteer with several organisations.

John Walker
Elected 2010
John's experience with clients with a wide range of mental health issues, through training, recruiting and supporting volunteers. John supports people with mental health or learning disabilities in Suffolk Police Stations and is a member of the Voluntary & Community Sector Mental Health Providers' Forum for Suffolk.
John is a member of the Code of Conduct sub-group of the Board of Governors.

Neil is a consultant old age psychiatrist, who has worked in the trust for over 20 years. He has also been a trade union representative at local, regional and national level for the last 15 years.

Duncan is a consultant adult psychiatrist who has worked within the trust since 1996, and was first elected in 2008. Duncan is also an honorary senior lecturer at UEA medical school.

Jeff was formerly Managing Director at Bernard Matthews in Norfolk. Before that he held a number of senior leadership posts with international companies such as Mars, Northern Foods, and Colgate-Palmolive. He is an Independent Governor of the University of Bedfordshire, and a Trustee and Director of the national charity, Shaw Trust.

Cllr Brian Hannah - Norfolk County Council
Appointed April 2011
Brian has lived in Sheringham for more than 60 years and has been a county councillor since 2001. Brian is now retired but spent many years working as a prison officer in Norfolk. He has had a wide range of experience across the council and his previous roles have included Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group and Liberal Democrat lead on Planning issues. Brian devotes much of his time to working on Community Safety and Community Pride and supporting vulnerable young people and parents. He is currently Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on the Police Authority and the Council's restorative justice champion. Brian is very active in the community and other roles he has taken up locally include: District councillor for North Norfolk since 1997, Member of Sheringham Town Council and Beeston parish council, Chair of Northern Pupil Referral Unit, School governor at Sheringham High and Sheringham Primary, Member of Sheringham Sports Association, Chair of Sheringham in Bloom, and work with the Sheringham Youth Club

ACC Kevin Wilkins - Norfolk Constabulary
Appointed February 2008
Kevin Wilkins began his career with Norfolk Constabulary in 1976 in Swaffham before moving to Norwich, and has a wide experience of both urban and rural operational policing in the county having undertaken a variety of roles at all levels.
In 2004 he formed a new police headquarters in Wymondham to focus on improving customer service, developing a new Contact Centre and the Force Control Room.
Following an extended period as Acting Deputy Chief Constable from August 2006 to August 2007, Kevin is now Assistant Chief Constable with responsibility for the Customer Services Portfolio, Citizen Focus, including Criminal Justice and Communications and Public Affairs.
Kevin is a member of the Nominations Committee.
